My Very First College Class Experience

Sitting in on my dad's lecture at Duke was like getting a sneak peek into my future. As a 16-year-old girl with dreams of studying business, Duke has always been on my radar, especially since my dad graduated from the Fuqua School of Business.

The room was full of students eager to learn from my dad, a seasoned professional who's worked for Google, Capital One, Freddie Mac, and various startups, spoke about his experiences. His journey through these prestigious companies already had my attention, but it was his topic—AI in the financial and software engineering world—that really intrigued me.

My dad discussed how AI was shaping our future and how we could utilize it to our advantage, instead of getting replaced by the technology.

What struck me the most was how my dad effortlessly blended his real-world experiences with academic concepts. It wasn't just about theory; it was about practicality and innovation. And as someone who dreams of making an impact in the business world, this was incredibly inspiring.

But beyond the technical aspects, what resonated with me was my dad's passion for continuous learning. Despite his impressive resume, he emphasized the importance of staying curious and adaptable in a rapidly evolving landscape. It was a reminder that success isn't just about where you start—it's about how you navigate the journey.

The lecture my dad gave not only enlightened me, but also inspired me. The thought of immersing myself in such a dynamic environment, surrounded by brilliant minds and groundbreaking ideas, motivated me. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be the one standing on that stage, inspiring the next generation of business leaders with my own experiences. But for now, I'll take my dad's advice and keep learning, dreaming, and aiming for the stars.
