Destressing After A Long Day

Now that it’s summer, I get to see my friends almost everyday. But by the end of the week I find my social battery drained from too much interaction and overstimulation. So, today I’m going to share my five favorite ways to destress after a long week.

Going outside

Whether I go on a walk or a bike ride or just sit outside, nature is the best remedy. It’s good to get yourself moving and it will make you feel 100% better.

Baking

Baking is something I love to do because even though it requires a very specific time consuming and orderly process, you can be proud of the outcome at the end and have a tasty dessert to enjoy.

Journaling

I turn to journaling for literally everything. Whether it’s writing about my day, ranting about something bothering me, creating gratitude lists, journaling is always the answer. In reality, your friends don’t really have the time or patience to hear about every last detail of your problems and life. So why not let it out onto a journal? Plus, it’s always fun to go back and read your past journal entries.

Take a bath

I feel like baths are really underrated and way more fun than showers. Nothing matches the feeling of sitting in a warm bath tub at night in the peace and quiet of your home. Here are a couple ways you can take your baths to the next level.

  • Add epsom salt or body wash to your bath.

  • Light candles and turn the lights off.

  • Put on a face mask, lip mask, eye mask, or hair mask.

  • Play some calming music, listen to a podcast, or put on your favorite show. (Make sure not to let your devices or wires touch the water!)

Engage in a creative activity

My favorites and recommendations for you are painting, pottery, and bracelet making. These creative activities let you work without thinking and can help relieve stress. Make sure not to focus on perfection or the outcome, but rather just having fun.

I hope these activities help you destress, try them out and let us know!
