Spreading Holiday Cheer This Season
The holidays are here! And this season is all about giving. Giving to others and the community! So here are five ways to spread holiday cheer this season.
Distribute meals to the homeless. This is a simple one and you can bring your friends and family along with you to volunteer at a soup kitchen or make your own plates to give out!
Some local food pantries/kitchens are…
Dulles South Food Pantry
Catholic Charities Sterling Food Pantry
Loudoun Hunger Relief
Make cards for seniors and kids in hospitals. Sending a hand-made card to people spending there holidays with no family around them can mean more than you know! There are many programs and organizations online you can sign up for that send these cards.
Sponsor a child’s christmas gifts! Many organizations like Angel Tree allow you to adopt a child for the holidays and buy them their gifts, you receive details about the child such as their favorite colors, what toys/characters they like, etc. You can find Angel Tree at your local grocery stores, churches, or schools.
Set up a holiday food drive. Collect canned/non-perishable foods and donate them to your local homeless shelter or food pantry!
Donate! Donate your old clothes such as jackets, gloves, winter boots, scarves, hats, and anything else that could help keep others warm this holiday season. You can donate to salvation army, local thrift stores, or local schools!
